KAPA Productions is delighted to announce the launch of MAKING TRACKS, a travelling season of concerts bringing the freshest and most exciting music from around the globe to a local setting in partnership with 13 major music venues in the UK.
The first season starts in September, and features Le Trio Joubran (Sept), Ahmed Dickinson (Nov/Dec), Lo Cor de la Plana (Feb) and Grupo Lokito (May). Full details to be announced shortly here
SambaSunda 5tet recording for WMN

The new SambaSunda 'chamber ensemble' quintet has recorded a new album for World Music Network while on their KlangKosmos tour in Germany. Produced by Colin Bass, this new album features some lovely new tunes, lots of strings and suling, and charming new vocalist Dini Adrianti. Watch this space for the release date in fall!

Sambasunda 'chamber ensemble' start their tour

The new special project by SambaSunda, the 'chamber ensemble' quintet will be live on tour from 1-30 May, performing across the NRW region in Germany, coinciding with the 'Ruhr European Capital of Culture' programme. Catch them if you can! (for details/dates see here)

SAMBASUNDA 'chamber ensemble' on tour in May 2010

Acclaimed contemporary gamelan orchestra SambaSunda will tour in spring 2010 as a 'chamber ensemble'. This special project will feature a 5piece line-up inspired by the Sundanese 'Cihanjuran' tradition. Smaller it may be, but this new quintet will not miss the verve and sparkling spirit of the original SambaSunda 'gamelan big-band'.

Astillero play Shakespeare

Astillero tango orchestra and international actors come together in an original production of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet. Through the evocative power and passion of tango, the decline of the lovers is seen not as fate, but an act of orchestration. The musicians intertwine with the actors creating their world, their love, and ultimately their fate. The production opens at the Mercury Theatre Colchester on 25 February (see here for info, date and tickets)

The first UK tour for tango innovators Astillero finished last week on a big success note: not just one but two shows at the London Jazz Festival SOLD OUT on 13th November.
