Katerina Pavlakis, born and raised in Athens/Greece, trained as an ethnomusicologist in Berlin. She started her professional carreer in 1992 as an event manager at Piranha Musik, where she was a member of the original WOMEX team. She also worked as a radio producer for public broadcaster ORB.

Based in London since 1998 Katerina has worked for a variety of high profile organisations including the Southbank Centre, Rykodisc, Asian Music Circuit and Crying Out Loud.

In 2002 she founded KAPA Productions, an independent organisation dedicated to international artist development and concert production, representing up-and-coming artists like Sidi Goma, SambaSunda and Chango Spasiuk.

For her work as an independent music producer Katerina was awarded one of five ACE London Producer Grants in 2006, and was nominated for the Paul Hamlyn Foundation 'Breakthrough Fund' in 2008.

Since 2006 Katerina has also been responsible for programming and management for the SOAS Concert Series and the SOAS World Music Summer School.
